WPS Cleaner for WordPress

I started digging into WPS Cleaner after my WordPress dashboard felt like a digital hoarder’s nightmare. I found a bunch of old theme folders that had been left behind after switching themes, and the plugin let me remove them safely. The database overview is also helpful-seeing which tables were eating up space made it easier to prioritize what needed attention. And yeah, it lets you download backups of unused media before deleting, which is a small but thoughtful touch.

The not-so-good

It’s not exactly pretty. The UI feels dated, like it hasn’t seen a redesign since 2015. No animations, no fancy progress bars-just plain text and buttons. Also, the lack of version info and developer details makes me a little nervous. It’s free, sure, but I’d be more comfortable with a known developer behind it. There’s no real support channel either, so if something goes sideways, you’re on your own. And while it does a solid job on standard cleanup tasks, it doesn’t handle custom post types or advanced metadata beyond basic options. If you’re running a complex site with lots of custom fields, this might not catch everything.

Bottom line

If you’re running a regular WordPress site and just need to clear out the digital junk, WPS Cleaner for WordPress is worth the download. It’s simple, gets the job done, and it’s free. Just don’t expect polish or support. For basic maintenance, it’s better than doing it all manually-and way faster than most alternatives.
